New in Pro: your week's hours by email every Sunday
Themes: App feature3 min readBy David Lawrence
Friday afternoon, you close the laptop and the week is done. Was it a long one? Are you ahead on overtime, or behind? Until now the answer was on the Health tab, so you had to remember to open the app and look. And if you'd forgotten to check out on Friday, you only found out the next time you did.
Clockflux Pro can now send you the answer. The weekly summary email was on our work-in-progress page, and it's live today.
What's new
Once a week, on Sunday evening, Clockflux emails you a short summary of the Monday to Sunday week that's just ending:
- the hours you worked against your target, with any days off taken into account;
- how far over or under your target you are;
- your overtime balance;
- any day you may have forgotten to check out.
The figures are worked out the same way as on the Health tab, so the email and the app agree. A button at the bottom opens Clockflux if you want a closer look.
How to turn it on
It's off until you turn it on.
- In the app, open Settings → Weekly summary email. You'll find it in the Account & data part of Settings.
- Switch on Email me a weekly summary.
The note under the switch shows the address the summary goes to, which is the one you sign in with, and the time zone it uses. Lots of people sign in with a work account, so keep in mind that anyone who can read that inbox will see your hours.
When it arrives
The summary goes out on Sunday from 18:00 in your time zone. By Sunday, a check-out you forgot on Friday is in the past, so Clockflux can count that session the way the app's automatic check-out does and tell you about it. The email names the day, and its button takes you to the Calendar so you can check its hours.
A week with no work counted, like a week of holiday, gets no email at all.
Good to know
- The summary counts what your devices had synced when it was sent, and says when they last synced. Hours on a device that stayed offline aren't in it.
- It uses the time zone your browser was in when you turned it on. If you move, switch it off and on again to update it.
- If you turn it on after 18:00 on a Sunday, your first summary comes the next Sunday. You can't pick another day or time.
- It's written in the language you use Clockflux in: English, French or Spanish.
- To stop it, switch it off in Settings or use the unsubscribe link in any summary. That link stops only the summary and doesn't change your other Clockflux emails.
- If you leave Pro, the summaries stop.
The summary is part of Clockflux Pro because it's built from the hours you sync. On the free plan your hours stay on your device, so there's nothing for us to summarise. The details are in the docs, under the weekly summary email, and the privacy notice says what the email contains and what we store to send it.
