New in Pro: connect Clockflux to claude.ai and the Claude apps
Themes: App feature4 min readBy David Lawrence
When we connected Clockflux to AI assistants two weeks ago, there was one gap we kept hearing about. You could ask Claude Code or Cursor about your hours, but not claude.ai, and not the Claude app on your phone, which is where a lot of people actually talk to Claude.
That gap is closed. If you're on Clockflux Pro, you can now add Clockflux to claude.ai as a custom connector, and it works in the Claude mobile apps too. ChatGPT can connect the same way.
What changed
claude.ai only connects to outside tools that let you sign in from a web page. You give it an address, and it takes you to that service to log in and approve the connection. Until now Clockflux only accepted the tokens you copy from Settings, so claude.ai had no way in.
Clockflux now offers that sign-in, using OAuth, the same standard behind most "Sign in with…" buttons. claude.ai sends you to a Clockflux page that names the assistant asking and what it'll be able to do. You approve it there, and you're back in Claude.
How to connect it
- In the Clockflux app, open Settings → AI assistants and pick the claude.ai tab. Copy the server URL it shows.
- In claude.ai, open Customize → Connectors, click + Add and choose Add custom connector.
- Name it Clockflux, paste the URL and continue, keeping the sign-in settings claude.ai suggests. Then click Add.
- When Claude asks you to sign in, you land on a Clockflux page. Sign in with Google if you aren't already, check that the request comes from claude.ai, and click Allow Claude.
To use it in a chat, turn the connector on from the + menu under Connectors. Then ask away: "How many hours have I worked this week?", "How many vacation days do I have left?", "Check me in."
Anthropic's guide to custom connectors (opens in a new tab) has the details on their side. Connectors are set up through your Claude account, so once it's added on the web it's there in the Claude apps as well. On the free Claude plan you can add one custom connector.
What it can do
Exactly what it can do from Claude Code or Cursor. It reads your tracked hours, breaks, days off and settings, checks you in and out, and starts and ends your breaks. It can't edit or delete your past entries, and it follows the same rules as the app: no check-in on a weekend day or a full day off, and no check-out in the middle of a break.
Your access, your call
Approving claude.ai creates a connection that shows up in Settings → AI assistants, in the same list as the tokens you've made yourself, under the name the assistant gives itself. You can see when it was last used and revoke it at any time. Revoking it disconnects Claude straight away.
A few other things work the same way as before:
- It stops if your Pro plan ends, like every token, and deleting your Clockflux account removes it.
- We never see your Claude account, and Claude never sees your Google password. Each side only learns what it needs to: Clockflux learns that you approved the request, and Claude gets a key that works for your Clockflux data alone.
- What you ask stays in your Claude conversation. Once Claude has read your hours to answer you, Anthropic's privacy terms apply to that conversation, not ours. Our privacy notice covers what Clockflux keeps.
Tokens still work
Nothing changes for Claude Code, Claude Desktop, Cursor, VS Code, the Codex CLI or the Gemini CLI. They keep using a token you copy from Settings, and each one's setup snippet is still in the app.
ChatGPT works too
ChatGPT connects through the same kind of sign-in, and we've now tried it ourselves: it works. ChatGPT adds outside tools like Clockflux through its developer mode, and whether you have that depends on your ChatGPT plan. OpenAI's help article (opens in a new tab) has the current details.
- In ChatGPT, open Settings, find Connectors (under Apps & Connectors on some plans) and turn on Developer mode in the advanced settings.
- Create a connector, paste the same server URL from Settings → AI assistants and choose OAuth for authentication.
- Sign in to Clockflux when asked and click Allow ChatGPT.
It can do exactly what Claude can, and the connection shows up in your list in Settings like any other, ready to revoke.
Try it
If you're on Pro, the claude.ai and ChatGPT tabs are in Settings → AI assistants now. If you're not, the Pro docs list everything it includes.
Tell us what you ask it, especially from your phone. That's the part we're most curious about.
